Lynn has been passionate for the Lord and His work in Evangelism since the turn of the millennium. As a small child, Lynn grew up in an insecure and volatile environment and moved from place to place, attending six different elementary schools before junior high. At age 10 he ran away from home, never to return. He learned at an early age to only place trust in himself and he became a defiant and rebellious teenager leading to his choosing bad friends and experimenting with drugs and alcohol. At age 11 the Department of Social Services granted his grandparents custody and they strongly persuaded him to attend church with them. It was during this time that God’s penetrating love started breaking through to this teenager and he came to know Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord. At age 20, Lynn was prompted by several police officers on his church softball team to consider working in law enforcement. Believing this was God’s direction for him he began a career in law enforcement, serving his community for 10 years. However, during this time God revealed to him he was living the Christian life at best with one foot in the world and one in the church. With that, Lynn took a step of faith and made the decision to leave law enforcement. In this God gave him a heart for a deeper ministry, a vision and desire for urban ministry. Understanding that God had allowed every circumstance in his life to prepare him for this kind of work and knowing both sides of the ghetto life, his passion and burden have only increased for lost souls with greater urgency, and especially for those who live in the inner city and are without hope. Lynn states, “As Christians, our purpose is soul-winning-nothing more, nothing less. We have all been commissioned to be fishers of men. If we’re following, we’re fishing. If we’re not fishing, we’re not following.” It is amazing to go into difficult and high crime areas, where very few will go and share the Good News of Jesus Christ with drug dealers, prostitutes, and gang-bangers. To see how receptive they are to you, how they are looking for answers and looking for hope just like everyone else. That was my story, I know where they’re at and I carry the Good News of Hope in there to them. I used to wear a badge and gun, now I go in armed with a bible, EvangeCube and the power of the Holy Spirit. Lynn believes if Jesus were walking on earth today, He would be found hanging out in the ghettos with the down and out. Lynn joined the North American Mission Board’s Intentional Community Evangelism Team in 2006. Since then he has ministered in urban areas of North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Kansas, Texas, Indiana, and Kentucky. He now serves as an ICE Consultant for N.A.M.B, training and speaking to churches and individuals to be active soul-winners and prayer warriors as he desires to see others catch the same burden he has. Lynn also serves as an Evangelism/Missions Strategist in Morganton, NC with the Catawba River Baptist Association as a North America Mission Board Mission Service Corps Missionary. Lynn currently lives in Morganton, North Carolina with his wife, Lori and two children, Cameron and Faith. He serves as a Magistrate/Judge for Burke County, North Carolina. |
